Orchestral Music
• Concerto Grosso, for flute, harpsichord, and string orchestra. The premiere performance of this work was given by Adrianna Lis (flute), Rosemary Barnes (harpsichord), with the Auckland Chamber Orchestra conducted by Peter Scholes at the Raye Freedman Arts Centre, Auckland, July 24, 2016. • The Radish and the Shoe, for narrator and orchestra. This is a setting of French-Canadian artist Louise Jalbert's story of a Radish, Shoe, and Letters living in a book. One day they're attacked by a pair of scissors and their home is destroyed. However, they choose to rebuild and repair their beloved book, and in doing so, create a more beautiful home. The work was recorded by the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Hamish McKeich, and was one of the 2014 NZSO/SOUNZ Radio New Zealand recordings: two versions were recorded, in English, and in French, and can be heard online at http://www.radionz.co.nz/concert/programmes/sounz-recordings/audio/201842116/andrew-perkins-the-radish-and-the-shoe-english
